Summary

Client Name: University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust

Role: Locum Consultant in Ophthalmology

Rates: £100 - £110 per hour (PAYE)

Shifts: Full time, Monday to Friday

Requirement: Glaucoma, This will be a full time position and will include on call shifts. Non-resident hours are paid at 50% of core rate and must be able to get to the hospital within 30 minutes. No on site accommodation provided, however, we can advise on local accommodation.

Location: Royal Stoke University Hospital

In your role as an Ophthalmology Doctor at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, you will rely on your superior surgical skills, dexterity, and coordination to treat a diverse range of disorders, improving or in some cases fully restoring a patient's sight. Your extensive knowledge will help you explore all the treatment possibilities and enjoy a gratifying career.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

As an Ophthalmology Doctor with University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust you will:

  • Provide routine care, diagnosing and treating eye diseases and injuries as well as performing corrective surgeries.
  • Manage emergency and specialist eye treatment clinics.
  • Liaise with medical and non-medical staff to ensure quality treatment.
  • Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information to explain findings using a variety of methods to ensure practical understanding.
  • Communicate with patients on shared patient decision making
  • Work in and where appropriate, lead a multidisciplinary team
  • Assess and prioritise patient/client requirements, delegating effectively to others.
  • Recognise, review, and report a patient's condition and any changes to the patient and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Performing basic administrative and clerical tasks.

Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications

Essential

  • Be a GMC registered Doctor (you do NOT need to be on the Specialist Register).
  • Have relevant experience at Consultant level, or references to support your transition up to Consultant level.
  • Hold evidence of stand-alone Right to Work in the UK (unfortunately locum jobs aren't able to offer visa sponsorship)
  • You will need to pass an enhanced background check (DBS).
