Summary
Job Title: Project Support Worker. 12-month fixed term contract
Location: Young at Heart office based at Burslem, hybrid working covering Stoke on Trent and Newcastle-Under-Lyme
Grade: SCP 20- 23 Full Time equivalent £23,888- £25,867.
14 hours per week £9,038- £9,787
20 Hours per week £12,912- £13,982
Hours: 14- 20 hours per week (tbc with successful candidate)
Responsible to: Young at Heart Project Coordinator
Young at Heart is recruiting a Project support worker to work alongside the Project Co-ordinator in combatting social isolation in the over 55’s across the Stoke-On-Trent and Newcastle-Under-Lyme area. This role will involve working within our older persons groups, encouraging them to socialise and make the most of their older years.
We are looking for someone who understands the needs of older people in the community context and someone with the ability to look outside the box for new ideas on how these needs could be met. You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work confidently from your own initiative as this job requires you to have main control of your diary. You will be able to undertake social research in areas to ascertain the need of services, visiting what is currently available and speaking to the service users in the area.
A knowledge of befriending and facilitating risk assessments would be helpful as this forms part of the role.
We require someone with a full driving licence and use of a car, good administration skills and a good knowledge of excel and word. You will be required to work across networks including communicating with social prescribers, locality co-ordinators and the like and work with then local multi faith communities.
