The London Spinal Cord Injury Centre is a 30-bedded Unit that provides person focused care within a multi-professional team for patients with spinal cord injury. This process is from the early stages of rehabilitation and preparing for reintegration into the community.



We are looking for Health Care Assistants with previous clinical experience, who are passionate about the importance of rehabilitation nursing to join our diverse nursing team. This is a full time post of 37.5 hours per week, for shift work including a mixture of early, late, long day and night shifts.



We are looking for innovative and inspirational individuals to join our team in the provision of high quality care to the rehabilitation of patients. You will be a part of an enthusiastic, friendly and hardworking team who participate in the Stanmore Safe Accreditation Ward initiative, continually striving and working on enhancing our patients care delivery. A flexible approach, good sense of humour and the ability to prioritise workloads is a must.

To work within the nursing team delivering patient care under supervision from a registered nurse.



Assist in the provision of care to patients, supporting and being supervised by a registered nurse. Assist patients with all activities of daily living. Assists qualified staff by undertaking personal care duties for patients. Reports patient’s condition to qualified staff. Perform further duties of that of a Healthcare Support Worker pertinent to the ward, this will include; helping with washing of patients, disposing of bodily fluids and waste, bowel management, correct manual handling techniques including hoisting of patients, assisting patients with their dietary needs, escort patients to other areas of the hospital or external hospitals, recording clinical observations and reporting to the registered nurse. Full range of manual and clerical duties. Will be required to maintain the orderliness, hygiene and safety of the ward/departmental environment

Clinical Responsibilities

To assist with patient care needs under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Carry out nursing duties as assigned by qualified staff

To work with the nursing staff to deliver individualised nursing care.

Report to a registered nurse on care given to patients.

Assist patients with their dietary needs as directed by a registered nurse.

Participate in the admission and discharge of patients in conjunction with the multi-professional team as directed by a registered nurse.

Escort patients to other areas of the hospital.

To complete Care Certificate in accordance with Trust policy and work towards extended healthcare support worker competencies.

Acquire a basic knowledge of spinal cord injury, and be aware of the hazards which may result from incorrect procedures.
