Job Title: Azure Data Engineer

OM Soft is looking for a Azure Data Engineer to join our team. Data is central to measuring all aspects of the business and critical to its operations and growth.

The Data and Analytics team is responsible for collecting, analysing, and distributing data using public cloud and open source technologies and offers transparency into customer behaviour and business performance.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Leverage prior experience and industry standard best practices to analyse cross functional data and provide insights to business teams.
• Solid understanding of business needs and develop business requirements, business rules, business test cases and facilitate business requirements meetings.
• Implementing data engineering systems in Microsoft Azure, AWS and other systems, including open source data science tools.
• Perform data extract and analysis as needed to collect, organize, and maintain data, and provide support to facilitate reporting and analysis activities.
• Gain in-depth understanding of source data, system, and related controls to ensure integrity of reporting and analysis.
• Work with other Data Engineers to ensure code is implemented correctly and efficiently.
• Assist in the preparation of timely, accurate and effective technical data controls. Build and operate data models and develop DB views, table functions, models in Azure, Snowflake and as well as public cloud data platforms.
• Build and maintain dimensional data warehouses in support of Business Intelligence tools.
• Develop, promote, and implement team processes and technical standards, including technical and support documentation for any modified or developed BI components.
• Adhere to IT Security Policies, Standards and Procedures.
Skills Required:
• Experience working with Microsoft Azure/ AWS.
• Extensive ETL/ BI experience with data modelling, data warehouse design and data lake concepts and practices
• Experience in data/system analysis and data issues resolution on Business Intelligence Development or Data Engineering.
• Experience in Data Fabric technologies, with a deep understanding of data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration capabilities.
• Exposure to working in Microsoft Azure Data Platform environment (Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage (Blob or Data Lake), Azure Functions / Logic, SQL Azure DB, SQL Azure DWH)
• Experience in Data Migration, Data Profiling and Data Quality enhancement.
• Experience in Agile (Scrum) way of working
• Proficiency in SQL, Data Integration tools and Power BI.
• Understanding of CI/CD process & way of working
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle and Agile (Scrum) /SAFe, DevOps and Waterfall methodologies using development practices such as TDD, ATDD, CI/
• Solid knowledge of star schema, Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, SQL Tuning, OLAP, Big Data technologies.
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including Agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Knowledge of the Python data ecosystem using Pandas and NumPy
• Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving.
• Must be able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Good communications skills – Verbal and Written

Education Required:
• Applicants must be graduated to S/NQF6 (Degree Level) or above or a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cloud Computing, Data Science, Mathematics, Science, Arts, Engineering or Business Administration.
