BCA are looking for a Data Scientist to support the Operations Teams with Analytics, Machine Learning and Reporting solutions. You will have 2+ years’ experience in a Data Science role, you will need an ability to learn and communicate well, and a desire to develop as a Data Scientist. This role is ideal for someone looking to combine analytics and Machine Learning.
BCA’s Data Science team are positioned at the forefront of providing data products to both internal and external customers within the Automotive industry. These data products are changing the way we interact with our customers, enabling BCA to provide them with innovative solutions, improving the ease with which customers can transact with the businesses in the group and enabling customers to maximise return in the huge second-hand vehicle marketplace.
As a Data Scientist working in the BCA Data Science Team, you will contribute towards maintaining and developing the team’s models and key reporting systems. You will have at least some initial knowledge of the technologies involved, along with the Machine Learning and Statistical theory that our Data Science products use (tree ensembles, GLMs, neural nets, linear optimisation etc). You will work towards contributing to the development of our existing Machine Learning models to improve accuracy and performance.
Solutions will be built using BCA’s Data Science Stack (Python, Azure, SQL Server, Git/Azure Devops).
Key Responsibilities
Developing and distributing analytical reports that contribute towards the team's relationship with its stakeholders.
Iterating on existing models in order to improve accuracy and performance.
Liaising with department stakeholders to determine reporting requirements and following through to implementation.
Developing dashboards to productionise key reports into self-service tools for stakeholders across the business.
Servicing ad-hoc analytics requests that come into the team from stakeholders.
Collaborating with other team members to support on various Machine Learning projects.
Developing a working knowledge of production level Machine Learning at scale.
Key Skills
2+ years experience with Python.
Knowledge of Machine Learning approaches. For example, logistic regression, linear regression, decision trees, clustering, neural networks etc.
Experience with developing reports, dashboards and analytics for a wide audience.
Experience with using SQL to extract data from source systems.
Excellent communication skills, including the confidence to present to other members in the business.
Strong attention to detail and proactive in identifying and owning issues as they arise.
Self-starter with a strong desire to learn and develop their Data Science skillset.
