Summary


Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated registered pharmacy technician to apply for the Pharmacy Technician Project Support Manager role. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Integrated Care Board (ICB) Medicines Optimisation Team Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System, working within a team of highly skilled and motivated Pharmacists and Technicians who share an overarching goal to support quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of prescribing in Staffordshire.

There is the opportunity to support delivery of a broad range of medicines optimisation projects covering strategic programmes such as Antimicrobial Stewardship, Medicines Safety Programme, Low Priority Prescribing, Medicines Optimisation across Primary-Secondary Care Interface and the Implementation of NICE Technology Appraisals.

Working as part of the ICB Medicines Optimisation Team, the post holder will provide technical expertise to manage, and support agreed projects to facilitate the development, effective delivery and monitoring of the project plans within the overarching Medicines Optimisation Strategy

Key responsibilities will include providing specialised pharmaceutical technical support and expertise and to support the Medicines Optimisation Lead Pharmacists on delivery of specific projects or programmes of work.

The post holder will be required to use a range of IT applications to create reports and maintain project information. Candidates will be required to demonstrate skills in project management, programme support and expertise, from project initiation to completion.

A key part of this role is to produce and present presentations or training modules where appropriate to internal/external colleagues and stakeholders to influence change. Therefore candidates should also be able to demonstrate good communication and organisational skills.

A part of the interview you will be required to give 10-minute presentation on a project that you have been involved in outlining the skills and qualities that you demonstrated, outcomes and learning points

The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) is responsible for planning functions; managing the NHS budget and arranging the provision of health services in the geographical area.

Location: Home based/hybrid working (most of posts). Travel on occasions to a Hub location with at least 1 days notice

New starters are expected to collect IT equipment, from offices in Stoke-on-Trent, and if based at home are required to have appropriate desk/chair/ relevant equipment in compliance with DSE regulations.

To provide specialised pharmaceutical technical support and expertise to the Staffordshire and Stoke-on- Trent ICB Medicines Optimisation Team.

To support Medicines Optimisation Lead Pharmacists on delivery of specific projects or programmes of work within Medicines Optimisation Strategy for General Practice. Examples of projects include medicines safety audits, prescribing review in General Practice, medicines management processes in care homes, formulary review and new service pilots in Community Pharmacy.

To provide technical and pharmacy specialist support to embed digital prescribing tools across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent. Tools are in place to support formulary compliance, medicines safety, governance, intervention recording and cost-effective prescribing across the health economy.

To monitor progress of projects and work streams which will include production of high quality reports on achievement of milestones, data analysis (including prescribing data analysis) and assessment of performance outcomes.

To undertake agreed clinical audits and research within the Medicines Optimisation Strategy. There will be a commitment to regular work in General Practice or other clinical settings to pilot audits and other interventions for medicines related service design and development.

To ensure accurate and open communication by coordinating with a range of organisations and individuals across the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent ICS.

To provide education around medicines optimisation issues and promote campaigns and initiatives, internally and externally, which includes supporting relevant medicines optimisation Protected Learning Time events and public campaigns.
