The role:

Dover District Council (DDC) are committed to delivering a more responsive and locally focused service. The Housing Services Team require an internal Customer Services officer to support the DDC Housing Management Team. The role will be key to the customer journey of a DDC tenant or stake holder, the journey of excellence starts with you!

Being the “first stop” on the customer journey for residents and stakeholders, you will provide advice on a range of housing and property services queries as well as undertaking key administrational and transactional work which will support multiple service areas.

The successful applicant will also own the Councils mutual exchange process, contribute to empty homes being relet within time frame, own the garage lettings process, ensure payments owing are processed, undertake satisfaction surveys, provide a central administrative service to Senior management (managing calendars, composing mail merges and assisting with mailbox management) and be expected to field regular calls from members of the DDC community and to undertake alternative tasks to ensure the Housing Management service has resilience.



What are we looking for?

- Experience of working with the public in a similar related field;

- Excellent administrative and customer service skills;

- The ability to be accurate and pay attention to detail;

- Proficient in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, - Excel and internet- based systems;

- The ability to communicate clearly, both in written and verbal form, adapting style and approach to meet the needs of a diverse community;

- Acknowledges the wider goals of DDC and is a team player;

- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload by effective time management;

- Ability to work calmly under pressure and to tight deadlines;

- Ability to use negotiation and influencing skills;

- Adapt to challenging situations and be experienced in communicating the DDC message with empathy and effectiveness;

- Transferable skills from an alternate sector considered;

- GCSE English and Maths Grade C or above (Grades 4-9) or equivalent.
