The Role & Responsibilities:

Private Sector Housing (PSH) is part of the wider environmental health department at Dover District Council, this is a small friendly section who very much work together to achieve our goals. There are currently 6 members of the team who carry out all of the functions of PSH including HMO and caravan licencing, complaints of poor housing, and disabled facilities grants administration.

We are looking for a qualified Environmental Health officer to work within the team on all aspects of regulatory private sector housing. We would also like this role to provide technical advice and support to other team members.

Who We Are Looking For:

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills who works well in a team and who thrives in an ever-changing environment. The successful candidate would have an interest in broader housing matters and who can interpret knowledge gained through that interest to benefit the department.

We encourage and support Chartered Environmental Health Practitioners and currently pay for annual membership of the CIEH.

What you need to know:

The post holder must be able to undertake site inspections and have the ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business including occasional working outside core business hours as required.
