Job role – Nursery Practitioner

About you and the role
You will be joining a friendly and experienced team of professionals contributing to delivering the EYFS curriculum in an outstanding independent nursery setting. This is an opportunity for experienced and qualified practitioners to work in a Key Person role. You will be working with children aged 2+ to 4years, providing them with engaging, innovative and exciting opportunities to feel happy and safe to enjoy every minute of their nursery day.
Dependent on your qualification and experience, here’s a snapshot of what you’ll do:
• Plan and deliver day-to-day activities for children.
• Nurture and encourage early years children to feel empowered to try new experiences.
• Work collaboratively to achieve nursery improvement plan targets.
• Ensure the nursery setting is welcoming, safe and hygienic for all.
• Encourage children’s social interaction and personal development.
• Support children whose needs are different or who are experiencing trauma.
• Communicate effectively with parents/carers.
• Be flexible, embrace change and support colleagues.
Your skills
• It’s essential to have a passion for working with young children and a commitment to their well-being and development.
• You should be calm, caring, friendly and able to adapt to the dynamic of a nursery day
• Be creative and inventive to encourage imagination and creativity.
• Willing to share your skills, interests and enthusiasm with colleagues and children alike.
About Heyhouses Church of England Nursery
Heyhouses Nursery school provides the highest quality of early years care, education and fun for children from the age of two and a half to four years. We are an independent organisation with registered charity status. Our purpose designed building sits within the Heyhouses Endowed Church of England Primary school grounds and we enjoy a close and harmonious working relationship with Heyhouses CE Primary School.
As a registered charity our nursery is managed by a board of trustees who support the nursery manager, their deputies and the staff team who deliver day-to-day provision for up to 40 children at each session. Our services include a Breakfast Club and After School Club for our nursery children plus children in Year R and Year 1 of Heyhouses Primary School.
Nursery is funded via the local authority provision of free nursery places plus additional fees charged to parents/carers for additional sessions/services.

Job Types: Full time – Permanent
Part-time hours: approx. 34 per week
Our rota covers the full nursery day of 8am-6pm. Individual shifts sit within that range.
Salary: salary will reflect qualification and experience. As a guide –
Qualified/Experienced Practitioner rates £11.46 per hour to start
Salary rates are reviewed annually
