Summary

Position - Psychiatric Consultant / Specialist

Location - Illawarra / Shoalhaven

You will be working in a stunning coastal location, with easy access to Sydney. This is a large Tertiary Hospital.

Wollongong is a coastal city in Australia, south of Sydney along the Grand Pacific Drive. Surfing beaches and rock pools line the coastline. Trails encircle the forests and rocky cliffs of Mt. Keira in the Illawarra mountain range, which frames the city. To the north, hang gliders launch from Bald Hill. South lie the Buddhist temple of Nan Tien and Lake Illawarra, a large lagoon with boating and fishing facilities.

They have Consultant role available in:

  • Adult Inpatient
  • Eating Disorders
  • Child & Adolescent
  • Community Psychiatrist
  • Psychiatry - Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC)
  • Psychiatrist for our Virtual Mental Health

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist psychiatric services to patients
  • Promotes patient safety and quality of care. Provides leadership, orientation, training, supervision and education, where relevant, for doctors in training, Health Service Medical Practitioners and other health workers.
  • In collaboration with the Medical Co-Director, Clinical Leads and other Consultants works to achieve national, state and EMHS performance standards and targets
  • Works within the scope of clinical practice as defined and recommended by the EMHS Area Medical Credentialing Committee

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
  • Demonstrated clinical skills and experience working with mental health problems in Adult Mental Health and / or CAMHS
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively as part of multi-disciplinary team
