Summary


The Special School Nursing team are looking to recruit a band 6 Specialist School Nurse.

The ideal candidate will hold a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) qualification in school nursing or have at least 2 years demonstratable experience of working within special school setting/nursing. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for working with children and young people within special school provision and with children, young people and families with additional and complex needs. This is a rewarding job position where you can really see and feel the difference made.

The post holder will work across all of the special schools within Doncaster and will manage a caseload of complex children/young people and families. The post holder will be the named special school nurse and point of contact for a least two of the schools whilst overseeing the caseload of other team members.

The post requires an in-depth knowledge of special school nursing, public health, safeguarding practice and nursing children with complex and chronic conditions.

The post holder will provide a holistic service for children/young people and families who are accessing special school provision within the Doncaster area.

To lead on the assessment of health needs and support in the planning, implantation and evaluation of individualised packages of care.

Provide training and support for children and young people, parents/carers, and school staff to meet individual health needs.

To work collaboratively with partner agencies to provide an innovative approach to delivering an enhanced public health service to the children and young people who attend special schools.

The post includes work in special schools, the homes of children and young people and other educational and community settings as required.
