If yes, there are exciting opportunities for Support Workers to join our continually developing forensic service in Doncaster, for men with Mental Health and mild/moderate Learning Disabilities.

The forensic Low Secure unit, Amber Lodge is a 13 bed inpatient service.

An understanding of Mental Health issues and/or Learning Disability is essential although training is available for development of staff. Risk awareness and management is essential to this role however excellent risk training will be provided. A passion for communicating effectively at all levels, excellent autonomous and team working and a positive attitude are also essential.

We continually invest in staff training and development to enable our team to provide specialist treatment programmes and interventions for our patients, and to further enhance staffs expertise, knowledge and Professional Development.

To work as an integrated member of the multi-disciplinary team supporting Service Users (who have a primary diagnosis of Learning Disability, history of Offending Behaviours and who may experience additional Mental Health needs) delivering holistic care and support as part of the Forensic Pathway under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Senior Support Workers.
1. Clinical/Professional Responsibilities

1.1 To uphold the principles of Positive Behaviour Support in all aspects of Service User care.

1.2 To contribute to the assessment of each service users individual needs and formulation of appropriate socially inclusive recovery programmes, incorporating robust risk management plans.

1.3 To support the Band 3 Special Interest Worker role by undertaking key tasks under the guidance of Band 3 Senior Support Worker

1.4 To assist with the general care of the service user, to include:
• Enabling the service user to meet their personal hygiene needs.
• Assist with the admission and discharge of service users.
• Assisting service users with their individual housekeeping duties
• Assisting with the preparation of service user meals, and beverages as required
• Assisting in the promotion of healthy lifestyles, including diet, exercise, smoking cessation etc.
• Ensuring that adequate diet and fluids are taken and appropriate records completed/maintained.
• Carrying out clinical interventions as required e.g. obtaining urine samples etc
