Summary
The Dorfmueller lab in the Division of Molecular Microbiology at the University of Dundee https://www.dundee.ac.uk/people/helge-dorfmueller is looking for one Research Technician to join the laboratory with experience in molecular (micro-)biology, biochemistry and recombinant protein production.
We conduct fundamental and translational research on Strep A bacteria and using an interdisciplinary approach combining microbiology, synthetic biology and engineering, pathogen biology, immunology, infection biology, cell biology and glycobiology.
The successful applicant will work with others on team on different aspects, the development of biological probes as well as vaccine candidate production optimisation and purification for current and novel vaccine targets. The appointed researcher is expected to work as part of a collaborative team on this and related projects.
The project builds on our unpublished and published work (see Burns et al., 10.1038/s41541-023- 00639-5, https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2024.03.01.582896v1, Castro et al., https://www.nature.com/articles/s41541-023-00730-x).
Both position is available for up to 36 months. Your priorities will include:
- Protein production and purification;
- Common reagents;
- Competent cells;
Who we're looking for:
Successful candidates will have a background in molecular (micro)-biology and biochemistry. The candidate should be creative and ambitious and a team player who is equipped with excellent communication skills.
Candidates are expected to have expertise in:
- Molecular (micro-)biology, biochemistry,
- Recombinant protein expression and purification (bacterial system)
Additional desired skills are:
- Experience working with other bacteria than E. coli
The appointment as a Research Technician on the Grade 5/6 salary scale is dependent upon you having been awarded a BSc/MSc or PhD. An appointment may be considered if you are shortly expected to be awarded your degree.
