Summary
Role
Key Operation Personnel based primarily around the Baler Area at the Windermere MRF.
Operate mobile plant including the baler safely and efficiently, ensuring quality is kept to the correct standard.
To ensure yard is kept tidy, sort scrap metal, oversee glass separation plant and provide holiday cover for plant drivers, whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Tasks
To operate the baler safely and efficiently.
To monitor the glass separation plant to reduce blockages, ensuring the glass is of the correct standard and any issues are reported to the appropriate person.
To dress bales prior to moving to designated storage area.
To provide holiday cover for plant drivers.
To carry out pre-vehicle checks when driving.
To keep the work area and yard safe, clean and tidy by clearing waste between tasks.
To wear appropriate PPE for all tasks carried out and to comply with site rules.
Requirements
A current certificate for either 360 plant, Fork Lift Trunk, Telescopic Handler or Loading Shovel is essential.
Baler experience is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
Previous work experience of the waste industry is preferred.
Be able to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Test
Hours of Work
Site operated 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
Alternate working week of:
Week 1 = 4 x 12 shifts
Week 2 = 3 x 12 shifts
2 weeks of days followed by 2 weeks on nights
Shift Times:
Day Shift = 6:50am – 7:00pm
Night Shift = 6:50pm – 7:00am
Weekly paid hours are 40, (an average of week 1 and week 2 hours, minus 45 minutes of unpaid daily breaks).
Every other weekend off
