Summary
Main tasks and responsibilities Work as part of the senior leadership teams across the organisation to ensure patient safety, clinical excellence and the delivery of a positive patient experience and will attend key Trust Committees. Provide professional expert advice and leadership to Digital Services staff across the organisation. Lead the nursing digital improvements in clinical safety and quality and patient experience across the organisations and represent Nursing and AHP views around Quality and Safety within the EPR Development process. Work with the Deputy Chief Nurse, Directors of Nursing and Divisional Directors of Nursing across the organisation in setting, developing and monitoring standards for the delivery of excellent Nursing and Midwifery care and professionalism both in terms of nursing informatics and more generally. Contribute to the development of plans to monitor the delivery of key Trust Strategies including analyse complex information, development of metrics to support and report on the implementation of Quality programmes. Ensure that clinical skills and professional development of Nursing and AHP workforce relates to informatics across the organisation. Advise on complex digital related aspects of nursing and AHP response to Local and National recommendations and interpretation and comparison of range of solution options. Form part of the governance arrangements for the delivery of future states and change across Nursing services in the Trust. Provide a leadership role and create a long term strategic vision impacting across the whole Trust for Nursing and AHP digital and act as a champion for Nursing and AHP digital services. Hold responsibility for long term strategy development to support the whole organisation to embed wider Digital solutions. The post holder will be responsible to develop and deliver Trust wide policies relating to digital and the Nursing and AHP workforce and will contribute to development of complex information strategy and policy across the wider Digital portfolio. Establish relationships with clinical colleagues and advocate use of clinical information systems to support clinical decision making, evidence-based practice and patient safety. Lead assessment of requirements and implementation of strategies to meet current needs and future Trust direction for Nursing and AHP digital within the organisations. Participate in defining and formulating complex Nursing, and AHP initiatives and projects that will deliver on the strategic objectives of the Trust. Develop clear business cases where required, identify measures of success and undertake post implementation reviews. Analyse complex clinical operations, organisational structures, and care processes to facilitate decision making regarding Nursing and AHP transformation. Utilise the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer applications and ensure digital systems are consistent with professional standards of nursing practice. Identify Nursing and AHP staff needs related to education and training in the areas of computer skills and competencies in the use of electronic tools for patient care. Serve as a role model throughout the organisation by continuously demonstrating value, encouraging innovation, and supporting reasonable risk-taking, being open to new ideas and keeping up to date in the field. Participate in pre and post implementation change evaluation, lead in needed process changes, and support nursing users in improving and maintaining changed work flow and technological processes. Develop clinical safety hazards to support development of new and existing systems. Responsible for the development and maintenance of policy and procedures related to the technology and systems and its impact to Nursing and AHP Lead in interdisciplinary process improvement teams to identify potential future uses of the digital systems and potential improvements in the current use of the systems. Collaborate with the Digital Teams and performance function to develop interventions designed for improvement of patient care based on clinical evidence. Assure development and monitoring of Nursing and AHP metrics, dashboards and other types of reporting needs. Chair the Digital Care Group and participate in relevant senior clinical advisory groups to provide broad-based input into the design and use of technology impacting clinical processes and work flow. Represent the Trusts at national and regional conferences. Undertaking regular research and promoting development through publishing and frequent national level lecturing and presentations. General General ensure that systems and change are implemented to ensure safe delivery of care in line with the CQC Framework. Ensure a fit for purpose and skilled workforce can meet the requirements of the Organisation's Digital Strategies. To facilitate the development and implementation of transformation plans for Nursing and AHPs in adopting new digital systems. To identify the need for, and support, capital planning which enable the organisations to meet patient experience and quality indicators and improve patient flow and efficiency. To ensure that informatics supports services provided on a Divisional or Corporate basis are delivered in line with professional legislative, national guidance and regulatory requirements. To develop skills in service improvement techniques to constantly improve service provision, patient experience and reduce waste within the Trust. To provide advice to Digital Services Teams on Nursing and AHP issues as part of the business planning process. To lead key Nursing and AHP projects as requested by the Medical Director, Chief Nurse and Senior Digital/Nurse Leadership Team. Budget responsibility for highly complex digital nursing portfolios for capital and revenue services. Required to provide and author highly complex assurance reports, presentations and other documents that take highly complex and / or highly sensitive information and present in a manner accessible to a senior audience, e.g. Digital Strategy Group (chaired by Executive Medical Director) and Trust wide briefs on significant EPR and Digital Programme subject matter. Responsible as line manager for Associate Chief Clinical Information Officers (ACCIOs). Required to present highly complex, sensitive or contentious business cases in a manner suitable for a range of audiences (e.g. lectures) at all levels of the Trust (ward to board) and governance. Participate in Trust decision making as a member of Digital Services Senior Leadership Team. Post holder will be required to be part of the Trust escalation procedures for major IM&T incidents. Information To support fellow nurse managers to receive, interpret and utilise highly complex information to ensure the effective management of resources and targets within the Divisions and to enhance service development and delivery. To provide relevant, succinct and timely information to Nursing and Digital Management Teams to inform and assist in decision-making. To act as Nursing Lead for the safe and efficient Nursing and AHP implementation of new Electronic Patient Care Management Systems. Communication To work together with the Nursing, Clinical Care Group and Digital Management Teams across the organisations to develop a robust communication framework which engages all staff at all levels, promotes involvement in Digital Services and the delivery of Corporate and Divisional objectives. To demonstrate a strong voice for Nursing and AHP across the organisation in support nursing responsibility in the development of Digital solutions. To develop excellent relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, for example across the health economy. To produce accurate and complete records of communications consistent with legislation, policies and procedures, and to ensure that records of all relevant communications are appropriately logged.
