Position: Machine Press Operator
Reports to: Production Manager
Direct Reports: None
Pay Rate: £12.00 (for first 6 months) then raises to £13.00 per hour

JOB DESCRIPTION
To assist the Production Manager in the safe and efficient operation of the Le Maitre site at Peterborough in the pursuit of Pyrotechnic production in line with all legislative and company safety policies and guidelines.
The work involved is operating hydraulic presses to fill tubes with powder. Part of the work also includes preparing the mixtures of powder for use on the presses.
The shift operates from Monday to Thursday 08.00 to 16.00 and on Friday 08.00 to 15.00. One 15-minute paid break takes place at 10.00 each day and an unpaid lunch break from 12.30pm to 13.00 each day.
Hourly rate on days is currently £12.00 an hour for the first 6 months, then rises to £13.00 an hour. Overtime is paid at following completion of 37.5 hours a week. A probationary period of 6 months will apply.
GENERAL
· Responsible to the Factory Manager or relevant Supervisor
· Liaise with the Factory Manager and all other members of staff to ensure a safe working environment.
· Liaise with the Quality Inspector to ensure the quality of pressed product and the quality audit trail for all product pressed.
PRESSING
· Use the Working Instructions provided to enable correct manufacture of product.
· Make use of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided to satisfactorily protect against chemicals, dusts, fumes, glue, etc, and this ensure good health.
· After a satisfactory induction period, be able to produce product at a reasonable rate as decided by the Factory Manager
· Keep working areas clean, tidy, and free from obstructions.
· Observe the limits in the Explosive Limits Folder and any Working Instruction
MIXING
· Use the Working Instructions provided to enable correct manufacture of product.
· Make use of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided to satisfactorily protect against chemicals, dusts, fumes, glue, etc, and this ensures good health.
· Return all chemical containers back to the relevant store at the end of each shift.
· Keep working areas clean, tidy, and free from obstructions.
· Ensure the mix limit is kept to 5Kg when in use on presses.
OTHER
From time to time you may be asked to assist on other tasks, e.g. cleaning magazines, stock taking, mixing flash powder for other production staff, etc., which are essential to the operation of the factory.
