Summary


This is a new position that will support excellence patient experience. This is a role that you can visibly contribute to optimum standards within the unit and environment.

The post holder will work as an integral part of the unit team ensuring a high quality service always. They will be responsible for the co-ordination of exemplary cleaning standards throughout the unit facilities (patient and staff areas). Their work will enhance that of our existing delivery of cleaning services by Medirest to ensure all patient and staff facilities in the unit are at a level expected by our COAST and JAG accreditors.

The Endoscopy unit is a busy JAG accredited Unit undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. This includes Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Capsule Endoscopy, ERCP, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, EUS, and Enteroscopy. We also perform Therapeutic and Palliative stenting PEG, NJ insertion, In-patient endoscopy, GA Endoscopy and 24 hour 7 days a week GI Bleeds service. Through investment we will soon have 6 working endoscopy rooms that deliver to our patients. This is an exciting time to join our Endoscopy team. To assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards on the unit, highlighting any deficiencies of service.

To ensure the unit is, clean, safe and tidy at all times e.g. removed clutter, ensure safe passage for patients, wheelchairs, patient trolleys, remove spillages.

To liaise with staff, to ensure that all alcohol gel dispensers, paper towels, are replenished, thus contributing to the prevention of cross infection from one person to another.

To take responsibility for the hygiene standards of the kitchen areas. Including the weekly cleaning of the fridges, ensuring all food is labeled appropriately and anything out of date, or not labeled, is disposed of.

To monitor fridge temperature, and report problems where necessary in the absence of the stock and environment lead.

To ensure waste is segregated and disposed of into correct waste streams, waste bins are kept in good condition and cleaned.

To report any non-compliance with the Trust waste policy and procedure to the sister/charge nurse.

To liaise on a regular basis with the unit management team regarding feedback and action required following infection control audits.
