Summary


Answerable to the Ward Manager and an integral part of the Team ensuring a high quality service is provided to the patients on ward.

Responsible for the nutrition and hydration of the patients and ensuring effective provision of catering cleaning and maintenance of ward



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Cleaning


1. To establish a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere and environment for patients, visitorsand staff.
2. To assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards on the ward, highlighting any
deficiencies of service in particular barrier nurse rooms.
3. To ensure spillages (non-clinical) are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
4. To ensure the ward, including bed area and isolation areas, are safe and tidy at all times e.g. removed
clutter and tidy notice boards.
5. To liaise with staff, following discharge of a patient, the bed area is cleaned in preparation for new
patient, and that any paper towels, litterbags etc. are replenished.
6. To care for any plants/flowers on the ward, ensuring that patient’s flowers are placed invases and clean
water is changed on a daily basis, removing any dead flowers.

The post holder will work as an integral part of the ward team ensuring a high quality service to patients. They will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities in the ward area and ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
The main elements of the role are insuring the effective provisions of catering, cleaning and maintenance services on the ward. You will also be required to undertake other non-clinical duties to meet individual patient needs as determined by the ward sister/charge nurse and to liaise with support service departments.

To assist the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure the appropriate and effective delivery of facilities services in order to properly maintain the patient environment.

The post holder must comply with all relevant policies, procedures and training on infection prevention and control.
