Summary


This full time role will involve liaising with patients to coordinate day case admission dates within the Gastroenterology & Endoscopy Department, providing timely and accurate data to ensure an up-to–date waiting list position, and to ensure efficient utilisation of endoscopy lists.

You will liaise closely with Clinicians, Secretaries, Nurses, Line Managers and Directorate Managers.

The post holder will be required to work with minimal supervision and work to tight deadlines, under pressure and be able to exercise sound judgement and decision making skills.

There will be a requirement to cover for colleagues during periods of absence.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Comply with the Trusts Management of patient Access Policy
• Register patients on to the waiting list and clinical code procedures using the computerised patient administration system,
• To work on own initiative and monitor closely on a daily basis waiting list reports and action accordingly reporting bottlenecks and avoiding breaches
• Validate patients RTT status on the waiting lists as per Policy by contacting the patient either verbally or by post to establish their status.
• Provide information and advice to patients regarding their admission/discharge from hospital.
• Ensure all relevant patient information, including GP home address, alternative contact numbers, holiday dates are accurate and record details of all patient communications, episodes and case note tracking on the computer system.
• Open and action all incoming mail.
• Take decisions as soon as you have the relevant information and take prompt and efficient action to obtain information when required
• Ensure that the sources information you require is accurate, reliable and can inform your decision-making.
