Summary


The post holder will work as an integral part of the unit team ensuring a high quality service always. They will be responsible for supporting the clinical staff and patients from admission to discharge. Their work will support the enhancement of best patient experience to the level that is desired and monitored by our unit management and our COAST and JAG accreditors.

The Endoscopy unit is a busy JAG accredited Unit undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. This includes Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Capsule Endoscopy, ERCP, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, EUS, and Enteroscopy. We also perform Therapeutic and Palliative stenting PEG, NJ insertion, In-patient endoscopy, GA Endoscopy and 24 hour 7 days a week GI Bleeds service. Through investment we will soon have 6 working endoscopy rooms that deliver to our patients. This non clinical role will support the provision of comfort products for all patients through admission to discharge. eg facilitating relative contact as needed, ensure comfort and availability of procedural clothing. The role will ensure provision, ordering, stock monitoring and delivery of Laundry products and refreshment provision for patients post procedure.

The post holder may be asked to be involved in the cross cover of other support/ancillary roles in the unit. This will always be role appropriate and may be necessary to ensure no gaps in service at times of leave. These duties will be determined by the ward sister/charge and you will be given appropriate training for this.

To assist in monitoring and maintaining of appropriate laundry stock, as directed, highlighting any deficiencies of service.

To ensure support of the patient journey from admission to discharge in all aspects of comfort eg, procedure appropriate clothing provision, laundry availability, refreshment and snack availability and delivery to patient . Ensure the cleanliness and stocking of the patient kitchen to allow no deficit in provisions this includes the emptying and filling of dishwashers.

To liaise with staff, to ensure that bed areas and trolleys are cleared, cleaned and made ready for the next patient in a timely manner to ensure no interruptions in patent flow.

To help maintain the content and standards of all notice boards as directed.

To ensure the woodland room is clean and appropriately stocked to receive patients at any time. To escort patients and relatives to and from the woodland room.

To cover weekly 1 day as ward clerk due to gaps in roster provision. This may increase at times of leave.

With direction, ensure the safe delivery of patient to appropriate point of discharge, this is usually a relative/friend in attendance at the unit. Occasionally you will be asked to support way finding to car park or bus terminal or wait with patient for patient transport.

The role will involve the delivery of all specimens at least twice daily to the pathology lab and the collection and stocking of all variations of pathology sampling pots to ensure availability at all times to endoscopy clinical teams.
