Summary
We are looking to offer the right candidate the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship in Production Chef Level 2 whilst working within the catering services team in Barnsley College.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist the team and the Head Chef in cooking for students in College, following the organisational brand standards and recipe specifications
• Helping to measure and prepare the ingredients, following the recipes to produce the chosen menu
• Staying up to date with culinary trends and kitchen processes, improving the culinary offer
• Maintaining exceptionally high standards of health and safety and hygiene kitchen environments. Ensuring the kitchen remains clean and tidy at all times
• Assisting in taking deliveries and checking stock to ensure this remains at sufficient levels
• Have a thorough and up to date knowledge of the food menu
• Helping to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen
• To undertake any other duties as required by the Head Chef to ensure the effective running of the kitchen.
Requirements:
• Qualifications in English and Maths are desirable
• Basic knowledge of a kitchen and its environment, having a food safety approach at all times
• A passion to develop their culinary skills at our up-and-coming restaurant
• Desire to learn in a catering environment.
• Genuine interest in customer service excellence.
Working week: 37.5 Hours per week, Monday to Friday, times to be discussed.
Apprenticeship standard: Production Chef Level 2.
