Summary

Clinical Psychologists or final year Trainee Clinical Psychologists with an interest in clinical health psychology are invited to apply for this varied role in the Cleft Lip and Palate Clinical Psychology Service, covering maternity leave at 0.8 WTE for nine months.

You will join a Consultant Clinical Psychologist within a highly welcoming multi-disciplinary team of plastic surgeons, nurses, speech and language therapists, orthodontists and dentists.

You may have experience of working with physical health problems with either children/families or adults, or experience of working in child and adolescent or adult mental health services with a keen interest and desire to apply that knowledge to work in an acute trust.

The main duties of the role will involve working closely with the multidisciplinary Cleft Lip and Palate team to offer psychological care to those born with a cleft lip and/or palate across the lifespan.

You will work with children, young people and adults through consultation to staff, direct work and by attending multidisciplinary clinics. Whilst your base will predominantly be at the City Hospital campus, you will also attend multidisciplinary clinics across the Trent region (Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, Sheffield, Doncaster, Leicester and Derby).

You will be part of a welcoming and growing Clinical Psychology Department which incorporates specialisms in Paediatric Psychology, Adult Medical Psychology and Child and Adult Neuropsychology.

There are opportunities for continued professional development and clinical supervision is well provided for within the team by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist. We regularly have trainees from the DClinPsy courses around the region, so there would be opportunities to supervise trainees.

You will also be involved in providing consultation, training and supervision as required to others within and outside of the multidisciplinary team. The department has a commitment to clinical research. Strong support is available to participate in research or to develop your clinical research interests.

Appropriate clinical supervision will be provided by clinical psychologists working in the adult medical psychology service. Currently, the post will be supervised by a very experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist working within Cleft Lip and Palate.
