Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen with strong leadership skills to lead the emergency department at Ealing Hospital in the role of Matron.

Ealing Hospital is a busy district general hospital located in the Southall district of the London Borough of Ealing. The emergency department currently sees between 120-140 patient per day with on average 60 of these patients arriving via the London Ambulance Service. The emergency department is currently in the process of being modernised in order to increase capacity and flow. We have recently expanded the department to include a dedicated ED SDEC area for our ED patients. We have also increased capacity within our rapid assessment areas for those patients who are fit to sit.

In the role of matron you will ensure that the Trusts vison is followed ensuring all patients receive care that is of high quality, safe and effective. Ensuring our patients have a positive experience whilst in ED is paramount.

You will be responsible for supporting the management of flow and capacity within the department and ensuring that established clinical pathways are followed.

As Matron you will provide expert professional leadership, informed, objective and pragmatic nursing advice to the nursing team and the Divisional leadership team, ensuring there are robust systems and monitoring in place.

1. Key clinical leader ensuring the highest standards of nursing practice and clinical care is delivered to patients.

2. Provide professional leadership and management to all accountable staff.

3. Accountable for service delivery, including clinical standards, management of clinical risks and complaints, play a key role in quality improvement.

4. Financial responsibility of nursing budgets.

5. Service development in line with national recommendations and standards.

6. Recruitment and Retention of staff.

7. Responsible for driving the ethos behind the Matrons NHS Charter.
