Act as a Product Owner for Capita's One Education product suite. Our primary market is Local Government and our software is used by over 80 local authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Our software is used to support children and young people in getting the best outcomes at a critical stage of their life. Our software is the market leading in the education support space, dealing with varying needs of young people through ages 0 - 25. This includes managing eligibility and provision of nursery places, admissions to schools, support for Special Educational needs and Transport to schools amongst others.

This role will work as part of the Product team to manage the product development backlog, release content, and delivery for products they are responsible for.

The role will require the successful candidate to take ownership to ensure commitments are met, challenges overcome and collaboration leads to success. This will require working closely with development, test, support and other internal stakeholders along with the customers in the delivery of great software. Act as a Product Owner for Capita's One Education product suite. Our primary market is Local Government and our software is used by over 80 local authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

What you'll be doing:

• Drive the delivery of new modules, features or functions from a product perspective working with development, documentation, professional services and other stakeholders
• Own customer relationships, running working groups, workshops, understanding pain points and showcasing new developments.
• Own and manage product Roadmap and backlogs, prioritising work
• Work with the Product team to determine release content and with the delivery team to ensure requirements are delivered as specified and on time
• Act as the product expert for your products and help identify reported issues and resolve them
• Work closely with support colleagues to help resolve customer problems where they cannot be solved at first line and to understand trends in the products
• Answer customer and field support questions; provide guidance and support for product issues
• Identify, document, and report design, reliability and maintenance problems and bugs
• Gather and consolidate feedback from customers and field staff
• Coordinate with field support specialists and customers to address and resolve problems and expand product usage
• Support sales to act as an enabler for growth in the business

What we're looking for:

Essential

• Experience as a Product Owner for one or more software products (or product-team adjacent)
• Current and thorough experience working in agile software delivery teams using SCRUM framework
• Experience in writing user stories
• Current experience working with User Experience and User Interface design colleagues to deliver an amazing user experience
• Current experience of analysis tools and techniques used to articulate requirements, shape design and bring focus to achieving business and customer outcomes.
• Ability to own the delivery of software from start to end, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a 'can do' attitude across teams
• Be robust in driving work to conclusion. Be professional but challenge roadblocks and find innovative solutions
• Experience in delivering on-premise and cloud based software products
• Good knowledge of Agile software development and delivery principles
• Excellent clarity of communication skills and ability to distil complex information to simple stakeholder messages suitable for technical or non-technical audiences
• Able to identify potential issues or conflicts and knowing when to escalate
• Workload management
• Able to work independently and take initiative
• Experience dealing with customers and communicating in a professional manner

Desirable:

• Local Government background / experience - particularly Education
• Experience of working effectively with distributed teams
• Azure DevOps (product backlog management tool) or similar (e.g. Jira)
• Experience of Aha product management tool or similar
• Extensive experience and competence in using Microsoft tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio along with collaboration tools such as Yammer and Teams.
