Do you believe everyone should have a place to call home and the chance to lead a fulfilling life?
HARP is a growing Southend-on-Sea based charity working to prevent homelessness and help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives. Each day our staff and volunteers work with individuals to tackle the underlying causes of homelessness, such as poor mental health or drug and alcohol dependency. From supporting people in crisis to helping them take the final steps towards independence and employment, we make a difference to over 1,000 lives every year.
As a charitable registered provider of short-term social housing operating in Southend-on-Sea, we believe everyone should have a home of their own. At times individuals may require support from HARP and other agencies to maintain a tenancy and avoid a return to homelessness.
Are you a motivated and passionate individual looking to make a real difference in your local community? Do you have a clean driver license and want to put this to good use helping others less fortunate? If so, we would love you to join our Bradbury Centre team as a Front of House Worker. This is a part time weekend role working Saturdays and Sundays.
We are looking to recruit to our busy day centre in the centre of the town, which is often the first port of call for anyone homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our Bradbury Centre offers the following services:
• Access to outreach support and emergency accommodation
• Reconnection support
• Access to homeless healthcare
• Free food, shower and washing facilities
• Clean clothing and laundry facilities
• Signposting to other agencies
• Referral to statutory services
• Support with submissions for Homeless Applications, Housing Applications, Universal Credit including brokerage for delays and sanctions
• Support and advice to entrenched rough sleepers to find a new way to live away from the streets.
• Support for people with complex and multiple needs, including substance misuse and mental health problems.
The ideal candidate will have an empathy for homelessness. Excellent customer service skills and be a self-motivated and a first-rate team player.
HARP will provide you with support and training to carry out your role effectively, and to develop your career. Our benefits package includes 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays with an extra day of leave awarded after 5 years' service (all pro rata for part time employees).
HARP participate in an auto-enrolment pension scheme through The People’s Pension. Where eligible, you and HARP will each be required to make a contribution to the pension scheme. Employees will also become members of the non-contributory HARP Death in Service scheme. Full details of the schemes can be given on request.
