Come and join us at North Manchester General Hospital, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. This is to start in early 2024 for 1 year (negotiable) and is suitable for doctors who have completed foundation training as a minimum. We are currently the second best performing ED across Greater Manchester and first in the country for ambulance turnaround. We have achieved this by great teamwork across our department and between our teams.

We are looking for motivated individuals who want to broaden their skills and develop specialist interests allied to healthcare. We are looking for people to join our successful and highly motivated team.

Candidates that are non-GMC registered at the point of application will be considered for this position, under the Trusts International Fellowship Scheme (please note, there is a £500 admin charge for this scheme). he job entails being part of a 24-hour rota, covering, days, nights, and weekends. You will be expected to assess patients, make primary diagnosis, and initiate emergency treatment. Emergency medicine consultants cover the shop floor from 08:00 to 22:00. The rota is new deal compliant.

The workload will involve seeing minor injuries, ambulatory patients, major, resus and trauma cases and covering our clinical decision unit. Our department is a busy Emergency Department and provides cover for a diverse population with specific medical and social needs providing an interesting and varied case mix.

Primarily, trainees’ duties will be to provide, safe, effective, and timely care to the patients presenting to and under the continuing care of the Emergency Department. Associated administrative duties will include GP letters and discharge summaries. Trainees will be expected to act according to GMC guidance on good medical practice and adhere to Trust policies on infection control, sickness reporting, risk management etc.
