Summary


It’s an exciting time to join Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. We are recruiting for a Senior Locally Employed Doctor to join our dynamic and developing teams within our Paediatric Critical Care, Anaesthetics and Complex Medicine (Paediatric Oncology, Haematology, Stem Cell Transplant and Gene Therapy) Division. This is an amazing opportunity to join the team providing clinical and professional leadership, strategic development, and quality improvement.

Candidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration: an active licence, ceased license or pending application with the GMC at the point of application. Candidates who do not fit this criteria will not progress through to the shortlisting stage.

Senior Locally Employed Doctor in PICU/NWTS (Clinical Fellow)

3 posts to start asap and 1 post to start in September 2024

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience of working in a Paediatric Critical Care and develop the skills necessary to pursue a career in paediatric intensive care or in an allied field.

RMCH admits approximately 1650 critically ill children per year, of which 750 are admitted to PICU. The PICU at RMCH is the biggest general PICU in the UK. In addition there is an adjacent 17 bedded PHDU. All patient specialities with the exception of post-operative cardiac surgery are cared for.

The post is ideally suitable for candidates with previous experience in paediatrics, anaesthetics, emergency medicine (A&E) or adult intensive care. Experience of working in paediatric intensive care is desirable.

These posts offer a unique opportunity to gain experience in both paediatric critical care and paediatric transport medicine and is relevant to all acute specialties.

Role will involve working on PICU and PHDU on a rotational shift system. Shift pattern includes long days (8:30 to 21:30), nights (20:30 to 9:30), standard days (8:30 to 16:30), HDU days (8:30 to 20:30) HDU nights (20:30 to 09:00) and educational days.

Candidates will have to have full registration with the GMC before starting the post. The successful candidate will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service.
