Siemens is creating its first UK based Rail Industry Hub on the outskirts of Goole in the East Riding of Yorkshire. With an initial contract to assemble nearly 50 trains to service the Piccadilly line on the London Underground we are starting to recruit up to 300 skilled technical and support colleagues in our Manufacturing Facility.
In the near future follow-on work is expected to bring this number of trains into the hundreds, along with an expansion on the site into maintenance and overhaul activities displaying a long-term commitment to the area and growth in employment and career opportunities.
Job description
- Being part of a small team that will be responsible for the acceptance of materials prior to their use in our production lines and will work closely with the Supply Chain and Logistics teams.
- Be responsible for checking goods received against expected specification, working to agreed tolerances and able to check against technical requirements and engineering drawings.
- You will liaise with suppliers and your supply chain colleagues where actions are required to ensure issues are dealt with as quickly as possible.
- As the quality gate keeper, you will be vital in ensuring that products arriving on the production line are as expected and ready to be used. You will ensure that any issues are raised promptly to ensure that production planner is aware and replan as appropriate.
- Will work across the working day at their own tempo, identifying priorities and supporting the wider team as necessary.
Knowledge & Experience
- Experience of working in an engineering industry.
- An ability to understand and identify product specifications and technical drawings.
- Experience of using SAP, to processes Goods In and trigger supplier returns.
- An ability to use measuring equipment, gauges and tools.
- Previous successful management of complaints and appropriate resolution.
- Attention to detail.
- Experience of using 8D and Route Cause Analysis desirable
- Quality Management Methodology desirable
- Cross functional work experience desirable
