Summary


The Children’s Therapy & Hearing Team South is a forward-thinking integrated team providing high quality paediatric therapy & audiology services to children and families across Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre. The team has a strong commitment to working collaboratively with members of the all multidisciplinary teams within health, education & social care to provide an excellent standard of care to paediatric patients and their families.
We currently have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated person with the appropriate skills and experience to join our team as a paediatric therapy assistant. Some skills, knowledge & experience of working with children will be an advantage as will experience in this field and/or community services. Experience within a health care setting is also desirable.

The postholder will work with children, families & school staff to support the work of paediatric occupational therapists . This may involve delivering therapy input; following programmes as directed by the therapists as well as ordering / checking equipment, participating in assessment & monitoring children’s progress. There will be a programme of induction & training before this work is undertaken
You will be joining a friendly and supportive team and will benefit from appraisal, informal support and regular clinical supervision.

The Fylde coast is a welcoming place to live, offering a mix of market town and rural locations as well as the more well-known locations of Blackpool and Lytham St. Annes. We are only 45 minutes away from Manchester and less than an hour away from the southern Lake District, with the university town of Lancaster in close proximity also.

• To adhere to and work within the Codes of Ethics and Professional Conduct for paediatric therapy disciplines.
• To support the clinical therapy work of qualified occupational therapists
• To work under the guidance and direction of qualified occupational therapists to complete specified tasks.
• To assist in all aspects of therapy assessment and treatment process
• To order, process and check equipment prescribed by qualified therapists
• To use technical and creative skills to assist in the provision of therapeutic activities for individual and groups of patients.
• To be responsible for managing own workload on a day to day basis including prioritisation of tasks given.
• To work in the community as a lone worker in line with BFW Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Lone Working Policy.
• To carry out a range of clerical and administrative duties related to the therapy interventions undertaken.
