This post will have a key role in the delivery of the Integrated Community Equipment Loan Service (ICELS) for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The ICELS plays a critical role in supporting health and social care services across LLR delivering care and support to the people of LLR including hospital discharge, crisis response to avoid hospital admission, end of life and palliative care, support to keep people independent and remain in their own homes. This is a very busy service supporting the wider health and social care economy across LLR. The service delivers in excess of 100,000 pieces of equipment to around 50,000 people each year. The delivery of the ICELS is contracted out to an external provider.
Working as part of the wider ICELS Team who provide contract performance and quality assurance monitoring of the service provider, day to day operational management of the service, support for health and social care professionals and a clinical team consisting of an Occupational therapist, Physiotherapist, Lead Nurse, Triage Nurses and Technical Instructors who undertake active recall of equipment in the community, triage of orders placed by health and social care professionals.
The ICELS has an office at the Equipment Provider’s base in Glen Parva. The team works both remotely and at the office. The role will work Monday to Friday 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. (4.30 p.m. on Friday). Flexible working is available. Attendance at the office a minimum of one day a week is expected as well as attendance for meetings/training and other matters that require face to face contacts.
What you’ll be doing
Triaging equipment orders placed by health and social care prescribers. Providing support, advice and guidance to health and social care professionals working in services across LLR. Working closely with other members of the ICELS team to deliver operational efficiencies and budget savings. Providing daily operational support to the equipment provider to ensure effective and timely delivery of equipment.
What you’ll need
With a Diploma/Degree from College of Occupational Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and responsibility for maintaining registration.
Using your Occupational Therapy experience in either NHS Community Health Services or a Social Services Department. As well as, experience of multi-agency/multi-disciplinary work and/or hospital discharge processes. Having up-to-date knowledge of equipment to meet needs of a range of people to aid their daily lives including specialist disability equipment.
Some understanding of the logistical impact of large-scale ordering patterns and being able to communicate this in a fast-moving situation, would be desirable.
