Summary

Are you an Occupational Therapist looking for a new role? We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist looking for a new challenge to work within our Assertive Outreach Service.

The Assertive Outreach Service is a multidisciplinary team that adopts a person-centred approach, focusing on individual recovery. We work with adults who have severe and enduring mental health conditions.

As an OT in our team, you will have both generic and specialist responsibilities, providing OT specific assessments and interventions to individuals on the team caseload. The role requires undertaking community-based interventions in non-NHS facilities to work with people who are generally poorly engaged within their own communities. Collaboration and active working with third sector providers are also important aspects of the role.

You will have the opportunity to develop activity programs to engage individuals in meaningful occupations and facilitate psycho-social and psycho-educational workshops. This will aid in the development of service user-led, occupationally focused recovery plans for individuals and empower them in their recovery journey.

The Assertive Outreach service operates over 7 days per week, 365 days per year. OT hours consist of day shifts (9:00am - 5:00pm), However, we can offer flexible working arrangements during these hours.
• You will work within the framework of the Model of Human Occupation to offer specific occupational therapy assessment & intervention. This will be goal orientated, focussed on developing positive routines, addressing difficulties with motivation, & looking to support individuals in developing self-management skills & strategies to maximise independence.
• You will empower and enable individuals to access community resources which support their social, employment, educational & recreational needs, and goals.
• You will produce reports & offer specialist advice regarding housing and support needs based on the outcomes of assessments & discussions with service users & their families/carers.
• AOS adopt a whole team approach to the care of service users, meaning that there is a shared responsibility towards the team caseload. You will hold a small caseload of no more than eight service users & will need to have excellent time management skills to care coordinate as well as prioritise & manage referrals for occupational therapy.
• You will provide coaching & support to recovery workers within the team, delegating where appropriate, to offer meaningful engagement & opportunities for individuals to build upon social skills and work towards their goals

You will be joining a great team of Community OTs that work in a Hub and Spoke model, Regular meetings and CPD Opportunities. Free Parking and access to Staff wellbeing Networks, BAME, LGBTQ+, Women’s and Disability and Wellbeing Networks.
