Home, a place where you belong…

Calling all night owls! We are looking for a night Housing Concierge to join our team following the successful internal move of one of our current colleagues.

If you are someone who prefers working through the night than the day and you really get a kick from working with and helping people, then this is the role for you!

The Copeland Move On service is a service which supports customers who have been homeless or have been threatened with homelessness. Customers come to the service to receive support with their housing; mental health and other issues they may have going on in their lives.

What we are looking for

  • Someone who is good at speaking to customers – Some of our customers are night owl’s and love a cuppa and a chat of a night time to pass the time! This is a really important part of the role.
  • You’ll have great communication skills and will be able to manage conflict.
  • You don’t need experience of housing or this type of role before, you just need to be a good people person!

What the role entails

The good thing about this role is, you can make it your own! Our customers really value our night team. They love coming down and having a chat over a cuppa! As long as you can do that, then you’ll be great. But if you wanted to run some activities of a night, maybe it’s a board game, movie night etc. then that is completely in your gift to do too! You can really make this role your own.

There are of course some nightly tasks which needs done which are:

  • You will check on the health and safety of the building through the night, ensuring that the building is safe and secure.
  • You will be a point of contact for our customers.
  • You’ll support the day team with the cleaning and upkeep of the building.
  • You’ll work with our day team to handover any activities from the night before.
  • You will check in with our night teams in other services.

Fancy going home each day knowing that you have helped change our customers lives for the better? You’ll do that here, working for one of the top ten Great Place to Work in the UK!

Due to limits on our current certificates of sponsorship, we are not able to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role.  This remains under regular review.

About the team

We have a fab team of Support Workers and Housing Concierge who support our customers night and day. There are 10 of us who are all here to support not just our customers, but each other! You’ll be working for James our Operations Manager who has been at Home Group over 14 years this year.

Job details

  • You will work from our Peter Street office in Whitehaven.
  • You will work 4 days on and 4 days off between the hours of 7pm and 7am.
  • You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.

A place where you belong

Great things happen when we can be ourselves at work. We want all our colleagues to be who they truly are here. Our internal diversity networks, peers and allies (Multicultural, LGBTQIA+ and Disability) support us all to be our best. Together we make Home Group a great place to work!

What’s in it for you?

  • 34 days leave (including bank hols and a “me day” to use for whatever you fancy) increasing to 39, the option to buy 5 more, and time off for volunteering too!
  • Health cash plan saving you from £1140 per annum. We’ll cover your costs (and kids if you have them) towards dental, optical, prescriptions, alternative therapies and lots more.
