P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our client who is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join their team based in Norwich on full-time, permanent basis.
Main Responsibilities:
• The role involves the implementation of production processes, equipment and procedures, leading productivity improvements with project-based activities, including new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduce waste, improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs.
• Work under own initiative liaising with the company’s Technical Authority, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Quality departments amongst others as part of the wider SHEQ Department.
• Working to target based plans reviewed on a regular basis by Senior Management.
• This role requires the development of close working relationships between our Operations team, Design & Engineering teams, senior leadership team and Supply Chain team.
• You will be a high calibre leader with the ability to drive change to meet our long-term growth plans.

Main Responsibilities:
• Manage the governance and review processes to ensure that Manufacturing Engineering aligns and supports across the product design, manufacture, test and in-service support phases of the product life cycle.
• Project management of operational improvement projects.
• Identify business improvement opportunities within the organisation and use appropriate Lean tools such as including root cause analysis.
• Develop manufacturing solutions to meet growing volumes in a high mix production environment.
• Support operations with solving problems that affect production delays.
• Identify methods for assessing the capabilities of processes.
• Develop and maintain required controlled processes, documentation and business systems.
• Support the development of a risk-based approach to product and business improvement utilising PFMEA where applicable.
• Conduct manufacturing safety risk assessments for any new equipment, assembly aids or processes introduced.
• Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure they are met.
• Develop alternative production methods for existing components using Lean tools and techniques.
• Value engineering on products and processes to reduce costs.
• Provide manufacturing support and expertise on new product/process introduction programs, overcoming technical issues that may impede output.
• Any other such duties that may be reasonably compatible with the nature and scope of the role.

Qualifications, skills & experience:
• Degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in production or manufacturing engineering in a quality critical environment.
• Experience in effective project management.
• Critical thinking ability to evaluate product and process designs and propose improvements.
• Experience in lean/continuous improvement principles; 5S, FMEA, VSM, Process flow, A3 Problem solving etc.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• IT skills, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Microsoft project.
• Experience in use of CAD packages.
• Electrical knowledge and / or testing experience. (Desirable)
• Working with accuracy to strict timelines.

Working Hours:
• Monday – Friday (37.5 hours)
