Arnold Lodge is a medium secure psychiatric hospital in Leicester that provides care and treatment for male and female patients, who have mental health issues that require treatment within a Medium Secure setting.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our well-established Control Room team delivering an efficient and effective high quality service. which contributes significantly to the safe and secure functioning of the Hospital.
You would be based in the Control Room at Arnold Lodge. The post requires 24 hour cover, therefore unsocial hours, weekend working and night duties would be required.
As part of the Control Room team you will provide a professional and efficient security service to the hospital
Key duties include controlling access to the site, conducting security checks and monitoring a range of security technologies including key management, access control, radio communications and alarm systems.
You will also be required to provide a Reception service outside of normal office hours and so will deal with visitors, health and social care professionals as well as with patients and their family and carers. Excellent communication skills are therefore essential.

Role Purpose:
To implement appropriate physical and procedural security procedures at Arnold Lodge in accordance with unit procedures to ensure the safety and security of the unit is not compromised.
Role Context:
To work as part of a team in providing 24 hour cover within the control room at Arnold Lodge providing the operation and monitoring of security systems and implementation of security policies.
Duties will include:
Operation of security monitoring equipment
Monitoring the issuing of keys
Monitoring the issuing of staff safety alarms
Monitoring control of all access to the unit
Reception duties in the absence of dedicated personnel
Accepting small deliveries
To advise and implement potentially dangerous articles policy to staff and visitors
The checking of I.D of all professional visitors
To escort professional visitors to their required destination within the secure part of the unit in the absence of other personnel
Escorting of contractors and maintenance personnel within the unit
To record all patient leave
Collation of key performance data relating to leave and visitors
To liaise with site staff and respond; in accordance with departmental operational instructions and unit policy; to fire, door or staff safety alarm activations
Co-ordination, charging, issuing and operation of unit communications equipment
Co-ordination, maintenance, issue and operation of unit security equipment.
Post sorting
To complete all security checks in accordance with operational policy
Management of unit transport including Minibus and taxi bookings
Please note this post does not meet skill level required for a Skilled worker visa. Applicants requiring a Skilled Worker visa will usually need to be in a role which is at Band 3 or above, however please note not all Band 3 roles are capable of sponsorship.
