Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 6 months

The purpose of the role is to provide effective leadership and management to the team to deliver a comprehensive administration and financial business support function to the service area, ensuring that appropriate administrative and financial standards and procedures are implemented and maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide overall leadership and management to the administration team by the recruitment, mentoring and management (including performance management) of the staff reporting to the post, in accordance with the County Councils policy & procedures.
Oversee the planning, initiating, organising, and monitoring the provision of administrative/finance support for the service area.
Delegate tasks, as appropriate, to ensure that a high-quality service is delivered.
Take full responsibility for the day-to-day operations in your department and ensure that workloads are completed within the requisite time periods.
Developing the skills of the administrative/financial support team and reviewing performance in conjunction with the service area.
Ensuring the team works within its allocated budget and that resources are managed effectively.
Providing support with financial matters, including support for budget monitoring.
Ensuring effective and accessible communication for the service area with staff, employees, service users, customers, partner agencies and others as appropriate.
Understand the wider business objectives and, in line with this, strive for continuous improvements to the service and maintain a high level of business excellence.
Respond to escalated customers complaints and enquiries in an efficient manner, minimising adverse situations.

Qualifications:
GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
Diploma or NVQ 3/4 in Business Administration or an appropriate equivalent qualification/experience.
Skills & Experience
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Experience of managing administrative and financial functions, budgets, and tasks.
Experience of line management, delegation, supervision, and performance assessment.
Experience of undertaking complex administrative tasks, progress chasing and working to tight deadlines.
Experience in working under pressure and dealing positively with stressful situations.
Experience of operating bespoke administrative management systems.
Experience of working in a complex statutory organisation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
