We are looking to recruit a Principal Archives, Information and Records Assistant, to join our Archives, Information and Records Management Team, on a temporary (1 year) 0.8 FTE equivalent basis and assume a key role in our friendly team of hard-working and committed individuals.

The post holder will play a key role in the administration of the county’s Archives, Information and Records Management Services. This involves taking primary responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the county’s records management, and administering, with others, information and records management for the County Council which ensures the Council’s compliance with statutory requirement and legislation.

This post also involves delivering, with others, the county archive service, Ceredigion Archives, including a front-facing role with the public, research work and collections care.

On a day to day basis your duties will involve:
• Administration of current (live) paper and electronic records, including the retrieval of paper files promptly upon request and the monitoring and managing of available space at the off-site repositories
• Undertaking research, retrieval and replacement of files for other departments as part of the Information and Records Management service to the council
• Using the archival collections to research on behalf of the local authority and the public, and creating written responses to public enquiries
• Supervising the public search-room at the county archives, with responsibility for the researchers and the safety of the historic collections used by the public
• Creating and delivering, with others, exhibition and social media content and public events, to promote the collections
• Other work concerning the Information and Records Management Service and the Archive Service as necessary

We are looking to recruit an individual with:
• Enthusiasm and energy, kindness and empathy
• A degree in an appropriate subject or 4 years’ equivalent experience
• A driving licence and use of own car
• A highly developed sense of responsibility & understanding of confidentiality
• Resilience and reliability
• Good spoken and written English and Welsh
• Manual dexterity, physical strength and good mobility
• Good IT skills

A successful applicant without the required Welsh language skill will be fully supported to reach the desired standard.
