Job title: Day Opportunities Support Worker
Location: Delrow Community, Hilfield Lane, Watford, WD25 8DJ.
Purpose: To help ensure that each of the day opportunity day services
(Drama, Café, Crafts & Social Farm) offers a suitable, effective environment for the
people we support, one which is safe, stimulating and welcoming to all.
Salary: £11.95 per hour.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, occasional evenings and weekends).

Who are we looking for?

• You must have the ability to write in a legible manner, keep records and write clear accounts of your work/incident reports etc.
• You may have some previous experience of working with vulnerable people, ideally with adults with learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
• You may have working knowledge of Health & Safety and First Aid.
• You’ll adapt a calm, person orientated approach with a flexible mind set and the ability to take and give direction from and to others.
• You’ll be respectful and understanding of others.
• Knowledge of all things drama desirable but not essential.
• You’ll empower others and help them achieve personal learning and development targets.
• You’ll be focused on results and quality.
• You’ll be able to solve problems and make decisions.
• You’ll be resilient to change and challenges.
• Experience of teaching or delivering group activities is desirable.
What are the main responsibilities of this role?
1. Your first responsibility will be to support the people we support in drama.
2. You’ll also provide support to learn skills in Running a Café, Textile Weaving, Felt-making, Needlecraft, Social Farm, Pottery and Food Preparation skills.
3. You’ll help support the individuals and workshops, through effective planning, utilising, and developing existing skills, generation of creative ideas and being able to do so using a person- centred approach.
4. You’ll adapt a creative, flexible way of working with the promotion of inclusion and individuality, and to celebrate achievement using a person-centred approach.
5. You’ll be aware of your environment with due notice given to recycling, reduction of waste and ensuring equipment is both working safely and effectively.
6. You may be required to perform duties other than those given in this job description. The specific duties and responsibilities may vary from time to time.
7. Supporting within the guidance of Health and Safety, Manual Handling, Accident reporting and Fire regulations.
8. Attending mandatory training and be willing to attend supervision, team meetings, events, festivals and other community events.
9. Work alongside the extended community including C&S, office staff and management teams.
10. All areas require a creative, flexible way of working with the promotion of inclusion and individuality, and to celebrate achievement using a person-centred approach at all times.
11. Awareness of your environment with due notice given to recycling, reduction of waste and ensuring equipment is both working safely and effectively.
Role requirements:
• Good level of standard education.
• Skills, knowledge and enthusiasm for all things Drama
• Experience in supporting people with Learning Disabilities
• Full Clean Driving License.
• Able to understand and interpret relevant verbal and non-verbal communication.
• Good social and oral communication skills.
• Able to motivate and organise self and others.
• Flexible, with good problem-solving skills.
