Job Title: FCL Freight Operator
Location: Basildon, Essex
Salary: DOE
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:15
Key Responsibilities:
- Arranging FCL Sea shipments both Import & Export
- Liaising with suppliers, carriers, and overseas offices to ensure smooth operations
- Operating within company general procedures and requirements
- Coordinating with overseas offices to arrange shipments efficiently
- Generating invoices as per shipment terms and costing files accurately to maximize profitability
- Providing timely quotes for customer or overseas office inquiries, both Import & Export
- Following up on any pending quotes
- Handling general day-to-day customer service and administration tasks
Knowledge:
- Understanding of documents required for international (maritime) transport for both Import & Export
- Familiarity with transport regulations, including local (port) regulations and HM Customs regulations
- Proficiency in CNS, CDS & Destin8, Excel & Word
- Good geographic understanding of shipping routes and locations
Skills and Personal Attributes:
- Accurate and well-organized with attention to detail
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in customer and supplier liaison to ensure smooth operations
- Flexible and agile thinker, capable of adapting to changing circumstances
- Good understanding of IT systems and software relevant to the role
