A Vacancy at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Physiotherapist to join the Acute Therapy Team (ATT) at University College Hospital covering a maternity leave vacancy. The post holder will be jointly responsible for leading the ATT Team to provide a high quality, 7-day service to all patients within emergency services.
The successful candidate will be expected to carry a varied and complex caseload whilst also supporting the therapists within this high-paced specialty. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Physiotherapist who can provide decisive and effective therapy input and can demonstrate leadership qualities, high level communication skills and a flexible approach when working under pressure. Applicants will need experience of working at Band 6 level within the NHS setting and a wide range of core physio specialties.

• To be responsible for the early assessment and management of patients referred from A&E, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Enhanced Care Unit (ECU) to prevent unnecessary admissions and enable timely discharge from hospital.
• To provide expert advice within the multidisciplinary team and work closely with community services and partner agencies in order to maintain continuity of service.
• To be responsible for providing Clinical Leadership to the A&E and AMU Therapy Team, including carrying out staff appraisals, service development work and audit projects.
• To focus on developing and promoting the role of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists within the speciality, as well as developing and promoting protocols and standards in the care of medical and elderly patients.
• To be responsible for daily operational activities and planning, evaluation and development of the team in conjunction with the Acute Therapies Operational lead and Acute Therapies Manager.
• The post holder is responsible for induction, training and supervision of junior staff, students and Therapy Instructors on rotation in the Team.
• To provide cover within the therapy department during periods of staff absence.
• To provide clinical leadership to staff within the wider medicine therapy team when required due to staff absence.
• To participate in 7-day services rota.
