This advert is for apprentice Healthcare Support Worker posts based in the Bristol Royal Infirmary at UHBW working with adults.

An apprenticeship in Health and Social Care with University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust could be your first step towards a rewarding career in health care. As an apprentice Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) you will be working alongside our nursing staff. HCSW are a crucial part of the multi-disciplinary team, delivering a high standard of care to our adult patients. You will be working with Registered Nurses and helping to provide care and therapy to adult patients.

You will receive training in the work place and off the job, and will be fully supported in your learning by Weston College. Apprenticeship contracts are fixed term for a period of 27 months (NVQ Level 3) dependent previous relevant experience and if working full time. Previous healthcare experience is not required, but an interest in the role is essential as well as a caring, compassionate attitude.

When you have successfully completed all of the components of the apprenticeship within the agreed timescale, you will be guaranteed a permanent Healthcare Support Worker position with us at UHBW.

As an acute trust we deliver care to our patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Therefore you will be required to cover a variety of working patterns, these will include twelve and a half hour shifts, nights, weekends and bank holidays. On occasion, we may have a very limited number of Monday to Friday posts supporting our outpatient areas during “office hours”.
