An opportunity has arisen for Bank Staff to work within Catering Services at New Cross Hospital.
We are seeking BANK staff to work on Wards. Working as part of the Bank Team means working on an ad hoc basis to cover the needs of the service as required.
We are looking for the following skills :
• Enthusiastic self-motivated people
• Work well on their own and as part of a team.
• Have, or be willing to undertake, a food hygiene qualification/training
• You will be able to work in a specific area or in a number of areas
• Be flexible in terms of availability and approach to the work/tasks
Bank working is an ideal opportunity to gain experience of working in a hospital environment. This knowledge and experience can be helpful when permanent positions become available
To work in ward areas delivering the patient meal service to patients
To work within clearly defined procedures using own initiative on routine matters, with supervision available.

To exchange routine information with colleagues and patients ensuring the correct quantity of meals are available.
To make judgements involving straightforward facts or situations, e.g. on special diets, allergen information is available.
To organize own day to day work tasks or activities within ward kitchens to ensure patient meals are available as required.
To comply with all Trust policies, Food Hygiene Regulations, and Health and Safety Requirements.
Ensure safe use, and cleanliness, of own equipment and kitchen area daily.
To explain and demonstrate own duties to new starters in line with the standard operating procedure for the patient meal service.
To monitor and report on stock levels, and ensure that these are correctly stored in line with HACCP.
Record personally generated information, e.g. HACCP compliance to ensure food safety regulations is followed, and food waste is recorded.
To participate in Kitchen and Meal service audits, and Trust surveys as required.
To work within clearly defined procedures using own initiative on routine matters, with supervision available.
To wear the uniform issued, and maintain personal appearance and hygiene at a standard commensurate with the role.
