Role Summary:
As an Arboriculture Specialist, you will provide professional and accurate advice, assess tree conditions, manage works, and advise on development schemes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional, accurate advice to line managers, County and District members, and HCC staff.
  • Attend countywide sites to assess tree condition and advise on necessary works.
  • Instruct works to tree contractors and manage own site inspection workloads.
  • Advise on development schemes, S278, S38, and planning applications.
  • Remain up-to-date with current industry legislation and practices.
  • Maintain good communication between the Client and contractors.
  • Meet project deadlines and provide accurate arboricultural advice.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Arboriculture or equivalent experience.
  • Arboricultural Association Technicians Certificate, or equivalent (or working towards this).
  • Arboriculture experience, particularly in tree work or planting, with relevant practical experience.
  • Practical knowledge of tree biology, plant identification, tree pests and diseases, planting practices, and standards.
  • Competent IT user with effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of contract documentation and management.

Decision Making Areas:

  • Prioritising and managing own workload set by senior Arboriculture officer(s).
  • Accurate and consistent arboricultural report preparation.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Dealing with upset, angry, or abusive stakeholders, contractors, or members of the public verbally and in writing.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid working (mixture of home and office), with frequent site visits.
  • Communicating with colleagues, stakeholders, and contractors in a challenging environment.
  • Ability to fulfill the travel requirements of the role.
