Responsibilities Include:
Provide advice and guidance to pupils on career planning to support them to identify and consider the various options available and outline possible ways forward
Work with individual or small groups of pupils to discuss their career options and education plans, listening to their ideas and helping to identify skills gaps and how to deal with them.
Research careers, options and support organisations to meet pupils needs and draw up action plans for employment, education and training and support clients to achieve these goals
Provide advice and guidance to students devising CVs, completing application forms, and helping with job hunting & interview techniques and presentation skills
Discuss with clients how to overcome any barriers to reaching their goals and refer them to other agencies for advice where appropriate.
Provide support in matters of psychometric testing, careers software programmes, skills assessment tools, career planners ensuring individual follow up guidance for pupils and parents
Help to identify potential NEET clients and formulate action plans in conjunction with other stakeholders.
Collaborate with the Careers Assistant Coordinator and Personal Development Leader in guiding pupils in their choice of subjects leading to academic qualification, university/ college entrance and apprenticeships
Support the development of PSHE in particular the planning and delivery of lessons and activities for careers education as appropriate, including developing employability skills to help pupils develop their own career management skills
Collaborate with the Careers Assistant Coordinator and Personal Development Leader in organising other careers events including the School Careers Fair, options & HE days/ evening Employer Insight days, HE fairs etc.
Keeping up to date with labour market information, legislation and professional and academic developments by visiting employers, training providers and training events run by educational and professional bodies; Keeping staff & pupils aware of developments such as sponsorship and apprenticeships including advising pupils on how to source relevant training courses and qualifications and what funding might be available.
Oversee the maintenance and development of a high-quality Careers and Higher Education Reference Library incl. writing careers literature or sourcing information including computer based and internet access to relevant material.
Ensure all relevant compliance documentation related to careers, for example the Careers Policy, is up to date and reflects our current practice.
Undertake all associated administrative tasks such as report writing and record keeping including career guidance status, destinations.
