We are delighted to announce an opportunity to work as a Specialist Rotational Speech and Language Therapist within adult acquired communication and swallowing disorders. This role will be rotational across the specialities of stroke (hyper-acute, acute and inpatient rehabilitation) and general medicine (including acute respiratory care, critical care and ENT). If you are ready to grow and develop your specialist skills across these specialities, we are excited to welcome you to join our team at Fairfield General Hospital and the wider NCA SLT team.

We offer a supportive environment with regular team meetings, close links with the MDT and in-house training opportunities including regular CPD events. We have established weekly videofluoroscopy clinics and a developing FEES service, there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to complete competencies in the instrumental assessment of dysphagia.

These positions will suit existing Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists who wish to further develop specialist skills in the field of adult acquired communication and swallowing disorders, or Band 5 therapists looking for career progression. We will support Band 5-6 development for the right candidate. We are a family-friendly service, offer flexible working options and prioritise the health and well-being of all our team members.

Every day is different! You will be:
• Competent to work independently with adults with dysphagia and communication difficulties and current knowledge of assessment and treatment procedures.
• Managing a caseload of patients assessing and making a clinical judgement of their condition and needs.
• Create and implement individualised treatment programmes, ensuring these are evaluated and modified as required, following appropriate pathways of care and communicating via liaison and referral to other agencies as required.
• Supported by the Dysphagia Lead, as well as other highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy colleagues, therapy assistants and colleagues within our stroke service.
• Be willing to work flexibly which includes supporting 7 day working.
• Be willing to help further develop the service we provide.
• Keen to provide specialist advice and enjoy delivering training across the wider workforce as well as educating and enriching student’s experiences too!
