Job Purpose: Personal Assistant for young autistic male to support with activities 8 hours a weekLocation: NR5Details: I am a very active young man who likes to be kept busy. I am looking for a Personal Assistant who would enable me to go into the community and enjoy my life to the full. I would like someone to take me out possibly daily for an hour or so but some days I may not feel up to it.I am autistic and nonverbal so someone with an understanding would be preferred but if you do not have any experience, training will be arranged. I need someone who would be able to help me keep a focus on the activity we are doing and provide encouragement when I feel anxious about surroundings or routine. I have no understanding of time and may become upset when I am waiting, therefore the timing and requirements for a Personal Assistant will vary daily for activities such as transport to and from respite, going for walks or going to the beach.Person specificationEssential:Caring and patientMotivatorSense of humourFlexibleDesirable:Experience with looking after someone with autismKnowledge of sign-alongDriver with own car and the relevant insuranceSummary terms and conditions:· The rate of pay for this position is £12 per hour· Hours and times of work: 8 hours per week, exact days and hours to be advised ahead of time· The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeksThis role will require you to carry out training in Autistic spectrum disorder, Anxiety and Safeguarding children and young people which will be provided to you before you can start supportingPost is subject to the following:· A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer· Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer· Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months
