I would like to work with a personal care assistant who understands that I am an intelligent and independent young lady.
I have, for years, managed my own care plan and I always decide everything for myself. Because of this, it is extremely important to me that you use the term PA, rather than ‘carer’. The latter implies a lot more to me, whereas the former recognises that I only require assistance with physical tasks - including but not limited to: domestic and personal care, cooking and cleaning for me, alongside support with, feeding.
I would like my PA to respect my autonomy and remain professional in the undertaking of their role, rather than befriending me and creating an informal working relationship. I have always had a good rapport with my PAs and they have all fed back positively; I just like it when boundaries are respected.
I require a person who is a competent driver and does not mind driving me around whenever needed. I have an automatic car and I work most days of the week. I need applying PAs to be punctual and work with me from early morning / when I wake up, including on certain days, taking me to see rugby matches, my friends and also to the gym.
I’d possibly like two PAs to rotate two weeks on/two weeks off but we can talk about this further at interview stage. I will take someone on under a two-week probation period and then ask for a six-month commitment. All references will be checked.
