About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Blackburn from September 2026. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering consistency, career progression, and the chance to make a genuine impact in a supportive school environment.
You will be working within a specialist SEN class, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Speech and Language needs. The role requires patience, adaptability, and a strong commitment to inclusive education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning interventions
- Support communication and language development strategies
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
- Monitor and record student progress
Requirements
- Experience working with children with SEND, particularly ASC and speech and language needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive and nurturing approach
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. , Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) desirable
