Summary
Teaching Assistant – 1:1 SEN Support (Year 1)
Location: Knowsley
Position: Full-time, Long-term
Start Date: September
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a primary school based in Knowsley.
This is a full-time, long-term role starting in September, ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential within a nurturing school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with ASD
Support the child’s academic, social and emotional development
Implement strategies in line with the pupil’s EHCP
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to adapt learning activities
Promote a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment
Encourage independence, communication and positive behaviour
Requirements:
Previous SEN experience is essential (ASD experience highly desirable)
Previous school-based experience required
A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A DBS on the Update Service or relevant documents to apply for one
