Pay Rate: £102 - £115 per day (depending on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Teaching Assistant with experience in Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) to join the SEN support team at a welcoming primary school in Openshaw. This is a full-time role starting as soon as possible.
You will support pupils with a range of communication needs, helping them to access learning, develop their speech and language skills, and build confidence in the classroom. Working as part of an experienced SEN team, you will play a key role in delivering targeted interventions and supporting inclusive practice across the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SLCN
- Deliver speech and language interventions under guidance from SEN staff and external professionals
- Support pupils' communication, social interaction, and engagement in lessons
- Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
- Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and external specialists
- Track and report on student progress
Requirements
- Experience supporting children with speech, language and communication needs
- Understanding of strategies such as visual supports, PECS, or communication aids (desirable)
- Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
