Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs Support
Location: Manchester
Start Date: ASAP or September 2026
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term Ongoing
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Pay: £102 - £115 per day (depending on experience)
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex additional needs within a specialist educational setting in Manchester.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people who require additional support with communication, learning, behaviour, and emotional regulation.
You will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to support students with a range of complex needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Speech & Language difficulties
- SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)
- Complex learning difficulties
- Sensory and behavioural needs
Your role will involve:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support
- Assisting with personalised learning activities
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and engagement
- Supporting personal care where required
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children or young people with SEN and complex needs
- Is calm, patient, and adaptable
- Can build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Is passionate about supporting vulnerable learners
- Has experience in education, care, youth work, coaching, or support work (desirable)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK
- Relevant experience supporting children or young people
- References covering the last 2 years
- Competitive daily pay of £102 - £115 per day
